Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate factors associated with overweight/obesity among Korean children aged 2-3.

Methods: A secondary data analysis was conducted using the seventh 2016-2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which is based on a complex survey design. Participants were 487 children, 412 fathers, and 483 mothers. Overweight/obesity was defined by Body Mass Index(BMI) percentile of 2017 Korean national growth charts. Descriptive statistics, Rao-Scott Chi-Square test, complex samples general linear model and logistic regression were the statistical methods used to analyze the data using SPSS 26.0 program.

Results: The prevalence of overweight and obesity was 15.8% among the study population. Children aged 2-3 were more likely to be overweighted or obese if their paternal or maternal Body Mass Index(BMI) was higher.

Conclusion: Based on the findings, when developing early childhood obesity prevention programs, it would be more effective to mediate the whole family not limiting the target group to only children for encouraging active participation of the obesity prevention programs.
